The benefits of a regular yoga practice

There are so many benefits to practicing yoga. People often come to yoga for a specific reason, but realise quickly that it can have subtle effects in so many areas of their lives. Historically the positive effects of yoga were anecdotal, but western science is providing concrete studies as to how yoga works to improve health, heal aches and pains, and keep sickness at bay.

If you have a sedentary life, then yoga asana (postures) will get your body moving and correct some of the imbalances that sedentary life can cause. There are numerous physical benefits, increased strength and stability along with flexibility, but that is only the start of how a regular practice will benefit your life. Taking time for yoga allows you to slow down. to reconnect through Pranayama (breath work) and posture (asana), which will leave your body and mind in a state of deep relaxation.
